Description:	DownloadWare is a process that runs on Windows startup. If a network connection is available it will connect to its servers, which can direct it to download and install software from advertisers. It may be installed through an ActiveX control. The following third party software applications are bundled with the Downloadware software and are installed without the user's knowledge: SmartPops Network Essentials Upon installation of Downloadware, your computer is assigned a unique numerical identifier. This unique identifier allows Downloadware's servers to measure and report aggregate information (such as the number of people who read an advertisement, or the number of times an advertisement is seen) to advertisers. It also allows Downloadware to collect information regarding your own use of, and interaction with advertising. Downloadware also uses "cookie" technology to monitor user activity on the Downloadware Web site. A "cookie" is a small amount of data that is created by a Web server and stored on your local hard drive upon your first visit to a Web site. Cookies identify you to, and can be accessed only by the Web server that assigned the cookie. Cookies streamline and personalize your Web browsing experience by storing passwords, purchases, and personal preferences like Web page layouts, Web content, stock symbols, etc., so that you do not have to reenter this information every time you visit a particular Web page. Technology from Downloadware and it's publisher resides on your local system and operates in the background, dynamically collecting and transmitting volunteered anonymous Demographic information and volunteered Personally Identifiable information about you, while Downloadware is active. The Demographic information collected and transmitted may also include information about your operating system, Internet Protocol Address, and Internet service provider (ISP). Disabling Cookies. Downloadware also installs software that scans your hard drive for the popular P2P file-sharing applications bearshare.exe, grokster.exe, kazaa.exe, limewire.exe and morpheus.exe. After searching the entire local filesystem for any files with those names it connects to the DownloadWare servers and tells it what, if anything, it found. From the EULA: "WARNING: DOWNLOADWARE WILL MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO YOUR INTERNET BROWSER AND COMPUTER. THESE CHANGES WILL OCCUR AS THESE FEATURES ARE DOWNLOADED TO YOUR COMPUTER. "THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS" may be bundled with Downloadware or delivered to your computer after you have installed Downloadware. These applications have their own terms and conditions and privacy policies. Downloadware provides links to these documents. "SOFTWARE CONFLICTS" may occur with other browser-based software applications that may already be installed on your computer. Downloadware will disable these applications to resolve these conflicts whenever possible. "AUTO UPDATE" is a feature used by Downloadware to ensure that you have the most recently released version of the Downloadware software. Once you have installed the software, Downloadware will make periodic requests, and install new features."
